Zinc anodes are sacrificial anodes made primarily of zinc metal that are used to protect metal structures or components from corrosion in various applications, particularly in marine environments. These anodes are connected to the metal structure being protected and undergo galvanic corrosion instead of the protected metal, effectively sacrificing themselves to prevent corrosion damage to the protected structure. Here are some key points about zinc anodes:

1. Corrosion Protection: Zinc anodes are primarily used to protect metal structures, such as ships, offshore platforms, pipelines, and marine equipment, from corrosion caused by exposure to seawater or other corrosive environments. The zinc anode, being more reactive than the protected metal, corrodes preferentially, thus preserving the integrity of the protected structure.

2. Galvanic Corrosion: Zinc anodes work based on the principle of galvanic corrosion, also known as sacrificial protection.
